Writing is a commitment. Writing a novel is a promise to yourself and to those around you that you will commit to it and persevere until the very end of your novel-writing quest. I a way, you are the hero of your own adventure. Yes, you will have obstacles along the way, but The Hero never gives up, even in the face of insurmountable odds.
I mean sure, you're not battling evil sorcerers or terrorists or anti-establishment (or even establishment) conspirators. No, your struggle, a great deal of it, is internal
A thousand word s a week isn't really much at all in life's tapestry, just a finite area and amount of time.
Don't you owe this to yourself?
You will never know whether you can write a book until you try writing it and suffering *grin* through the creative process. And remember that whatever suffering you endure over plot and characterization, setting and detail--every writer has gone through or will go through the same problems that you now face.
Hang in there!
