Requiem for an Update

I have good news and bad news.

Good News
I have written over 50k so far this year.

Bad News

It's not all on the same book.

Good News

It's all part of the same story.

Bad News

I seem to time travel a lot with it, though my characters di not.

Fun? Aye. Confuzzling? Aye.

  1. Chris Baty, founder of NaNoWriMo, talks about limiting your draft to one month in his book "No Plot? No Problem!".

Seems like you should be congratulated for your quantity of words, but also warned that you are giving yourself more pain than necessary, according to the book. The book would also say that jumping about to an alternate story is just fine, if that is what you needed.

Good luck in your future writing.

Are you going to tackle Novemeber's NaNovWriMo?

  2. Thank you: and yes, I am. During National Novle Wriuting Month last year, despite myriad computer problems and losing my files more than noce, I m,anaged to eke by NaNoWriMo with 50,106 words. About a third of those words were cut during NaNoEdMo, but it was still a good feeling to get that many written in a month.

I had managed roughly 10k during a BIAW (should have been more but oh, well) so NaNoWriMo, with a definite paln of 2500 words per day, five days per week minimum, managed to get me through last November.

Beleive it or not, the alternate story is part of the same story. At least I am not trying to put all of it into one book: we want to simplify the novel a bit. ;-) Just a bit.
